Michael King, MBA’21

Healthcare Servant

Chief Financial Officer,

Accounting and healthcare may not seem to go hand in hand, but for Michael King they add up to the ideal career. With a degree in accounting and a license as a Certified Public Accountant, King worked in the public accounting field for nearly a decade—consistently finding himself assigned to healthcare clients.

He admired the caring attitude of the people he encountered. His clients, which ranged from small medical groups to large nationwide healthcare systems, had one thing in common: they were all committed to providing safe, quality care to their patients. This mission resonated with King, and he decided to transition to healthcare administration, setting a goal to be a part of a not-for-profit organization.

Taking a step on his desired career path, he relocated to Grand Rapids, Michigan, in a director of finance role for Pennock Health Services. Pursuing growth, he knew that a Master of Business Administration degree was a crucial next step and that 51 was the obvious choice. As the current CFO for Corewell Health Dearborn and Farmington Hills Hospitals, King is applying his formula for smart, compassionate healthcare and impacting many lives for the better in the process.
