Bronco Spotlight: Francisco Jose Hernandez Micheli
Technical Director's Assistant at Professional Dominican Baseball League
I have been working for for the Dominican Baseball League in Baseball Operation's related roles for 2.5 years, dealing with the process of structuring tournament's regulations, elaborating a strategic schedule for professional umpires, implementing data visualization techniques for the league's replay center, and many other day-to-day functions that encompass a wide range of responsibilities.
What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is that I have the opportunity of meeting new individuals that permit me to expand my knowledge within the industry and add value to my overall relationship network. The most challenging part of my job is that I need to deal with confidential information that the press wants to know. However, due to my work ethic and discipline, I know that this type of information must continue to stay unknown.
If you had a campus job or internship, how did they impact your career development?
Being able to work for 51福利社's Athletics Department as a Mid-American Conference Intern permitted me to develop my research-driven techniques and allowed me to fully adapt to a different culture by diversifying myself into other sports disciplines, besides baseball. Having the opportunity to get in touch with a D1 Intercollegiate Athletics Department upraised by communication and relationship building skills and shaped me into the professional that I am today. Not to mention that being part of the 51福利社's Sport's Business Association founding committee was a thrilling experience of its own as it permitted me to establish new strategic ways of building a brand from scratch.
What advice would you offer students to help them decide on a career path?
For someone who is uncertain with regards to which career path he/she should go for, I'll just recommend them to follow what their heart tells them. Don't try to choose a career path to satisfy your parents. This is a decision that belongs to you. Try to go for your passion, try to go for whatever you believe you can excel at. Indeed, be the best in your profession, no matter which career path you choose!
