Congratulations are extended to faculty and doctoral students who have recently published or presented at professional conferences:
Dr. Carla Adkison-Johnson is writing a book under contract with Lexington Books on “Child Discipline in African American Families: Culturally Responsive Policies”. Dr. Johnson was selected to be a Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) International Advocacy Heroine. She was also invited by the Chi Sigma Iota to present a national webinar on “Child discipline in African American Families: Research and Advocacy.” CSI is the national honors society for the counseling profession.
Dr. Gary Bischof was recently awarded a 51 Support for Faculty Scholars Award for $2,000. The study focuses on college students of color around help-seeking, attitudes, and barriers related to mental health and wellness. Dr. Bischof also has a paper titled “An Honors College Lecture Series on Mental Health Matters: College Student Mental Health in the 21st Century” accepted for publication in Honors in Practice, a practice-focused journal of the National Collegiate Honors Council.
Dr. Stephanie Burns has had two recent publications in Counseling and Values. The first “Students' Ethical Decision-Making When Considering Boundary-crossings with Counselor Educators” and the second with co-author Daniel Cruikshanks on “Impact of Selected Ethical Information Resources on Counselor Educators' Decision-Making Regarding Boundary Crossings”.
Drs. Joseph Morris with counseling psychology doctoral alumni Katherine L. Nelson, Jesse A. Brinson and doctoral student Michelle A. Stahl have an article in press in the Journal for Specialists in Group Work titled “ School-Community Group Model: Collaborating for the Empowerment of Adolescent African American Male Students."
Dr. Glinda Rawls has had her paper titled “Bibliotherapy and Group Counseling with African American College Students: A Case Study” accepted for publication in the Journal of Specialists in Group Work to be published in a special edition of the Journal with an emphasis on group work and African American Adolescences.
Dr. Eric Sauer with Counseling Psychology doctoral students Jon Hook, Kristin Roberts, and Char Houben-Hop, published their paper on “ Therapist Attachment-Related Behaviors and Their Effects on Psychotherapy Process and Outcome” in Psychotherapy Bulletin, the official publication of the Society for the Advancement of Psychotherapy of the American Psychological Association.
