Bio:

Mert Atilhan received his B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Ege University (as No.1 graduate with highest GPA in his graduating batch) and M.S. (2004) and Ph.D. (2007) degrees in chemical engineering from the Texas A&M University, College Station, TX, USA. After graduation from PhD program, Dr. Atilhan started his academic career at Qatar University as an Assistant Professor in 2007, where he got promoted to Associate Professor Rank in 2013. Dr. Atilhan was also appointed as an Adjunct Associate Professor at Texas A&M University at Qatar in Department of Chemical Engineering and supervised graduate students and delivered guest lectures during his appointment. He is also an active research affiliated faculty member at Gas and Fuels Research Center (GFRC) at Texas A&M University at College Station. He has been active in the fields of applied and computational thermodynamics (DFT and MD) with the emphasis on development of novel materials for energy and environmental related fields. His research activities are mainly focused on very high accuracy property measurements including PVT-density-viscosity of complex fluids, equation of sate development for gases, VLE systems, natural gas hydrate equilibrium and inhibition via kinetic and thermodynamic inhibitors, ionic liquids properties and their utilization in engineering applications, development of high-stability and high-capacity novel gas storage sorbents, acid/sour gas capture through novel solvents and applications of deep eutectic solvents as eco-friendly and sustainable alternative novel solvents for various applications. Dr. Atilhan has authored >180 peer reviewed publications at top tier peer reviewed journals and he has successfully secured >$8 million research funding (~$4M as LPI and ~$4M as PI) as of March 2020. He was honored with 鈥淩esearch Award鈥 three times in 2008, 2011, 2016, 鈥淭eaching Award鈥 in 2016 and 鈥淓lsevier-Scopus Best Researcher of the Year Award鈥 in 2015. Dr. Atilhan is an Editor for  journal.
