The campus and local community gather annually to learn about and celebrate the cultures of 51福利社 international students at the International Festival hosted by the Global Engagement Activities office.

Western Michigan University's Global Learning unit facilitates regular and ongoing global engagement activities on campus, such as an International Festival and weekly Global Socials for international and U.S.-American students. Attending these events automatically grants students points toward rewards in the Global Engagement Program which is also coordinated by the unit.

The Global Learning team co-manages International Student Orientation alongside colleagues at the Haenicke Institute for Global Education. It prepares incoming international students for a smooth geographic, academic, social and professional transition to life and study in the United States.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

  • Plan and host educational, cultural, and recreational events and activities to bring together international and domestic students for mutually beneficial cultural exchange.
  • To assist international students in transitioning to U.S. university life.
  • To help international students learn about the many resources available in the Kalamazoo community.
