The Harlem Gospel Choir travels the globe with voices that reflect the renaissance of Harlem's culture and the American spirit of gospel, bringing people and nations together through its music and by raising funds for children's charities. Every concert is a celebration featuring harmonious songs of love, hope and inspiration.
The Harlem Gospel Choir was founded in 1986 by Allen Bailey, who got the idea during a celebration honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the Cotton Club in Harlem. It presents the finest singers and musicians from Harlem's black churches and the New York and Tri-State area. The choir has entertained royalty, President Barack Obama, Nelson Mandela, Sir Elton John and two popes, and performed at the memorial for Michael Jackson. It has appeared alongside Andre Rieu, Diana Ross, Bono, the Chieftains, Simple Minds, Live, Sinead O'Connor, Kim Wilde, Lyle Lovett, Josh Groban, Lisa Marie Presley and the Gorillaz, among others.
