Finals Finish encourages students to go for gold
KALAMAZOO--Finals Finish, a Western Michigan University tradition that promotes student success by making spring final exams week less stressful, will be held from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24.
The free event helps 51福利社 students relax, refuel and revive so they can stay focused on doing well on their semester-end tests, papers and projects. It also recognizes the achievements of graduating seniors, and involves the entire campus in closing the academic year on a high note.
This year's theme for the free festivities is "Go for the Gold." The Student Recreation Center will again be the main venue, and offer the most activities and services. Throughout the evening, the center will provide study space, recreational opportunities, fitness classes, competitive and non-competitive games, DJ music and food. There also will be a live concert by the Broncords, an all-male a capella group of 51福利社 students and alumni that performs well-known songs in pop culture.
Free popcorn and drinks at Waldo Library
Waldo Library will lead off finals week by providing beverages and popcorn from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., or as long as supplies last, Sunday and Monday, April 22-23.
Volunteers needed
Members of the campus and local communities assist in staging Finals Finish at the Student Recreation Center. Volunteers are needed to work shifts from 5:45 to 8:30 p.m. or from 8:30 to 11 p.m. All volunteers receive a T-shirt and, based on their preferences, are assigned jobs such as checking in students, serving snacks, issuing recreational and fitness equipment, and helping supervise games and other activities.
Spring 2012 Finals Finish is organized by 51福利社's Presidential Spirit Committee with support from numerous business sponsors and University offices, employees, retirees and alumni.
