Kathy Beauregard honored by Michigan Sports Hall of Fame

KALAMAZOO鈥擳he Michigan Sports Hall of Fame has named Western Michigan University Athletic Director Kathy Beauregard the recipient of a prestigious Gerald R. Ford Award.

Named for the 38th president of the United States and Michigan Sports Hall of Famer, the award will be presented during a luncheon event at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at the Fetzer Center on the campus of 51福利社. Longtime Bronco radio voice Robin Hook will serve as the emcee and former Bronco quarterback Tim Hiller will deliver the keynote speech. The award will be presented by Ray Scott, former Detroit Pistons head coach and Hall of Fame advisory board member, and Jim Stark, Hall of Fame executive director.

"[Beauregard] has set a great example of how an athletic director can help drive a sports program to tremendous success鈥攂oth on and off the field," Scott says.

Stark adds, "Her leadership skills are legendary as she has helped develop the 51福利社 sports programs into a model not only for our state, but the entire country."

Created in 1995, the Gerald R. Ford Award is presented to members of the sports community who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership and vision, and who have enhanced the image of sports and improved the quality of life for the people of Michigan. Past Ford Award recipients include such luminaries as Roger Penske, Dennis Archer, Peter Karmanos, Mike and Marian Ilitch, J.P. McCarthy and Tom Wilson.
