O'Brien and Upton debate Monday at 51福利社
KALAMAZOO鈥擬ike O'Brien and Fred Upton, candidates for U.S. Representative for Michigan's 6th Congressional District, will meet on the campus of Western Michigan University for their first debate of the campaign.
Republican Upton, a 13-term incumbent, and Democratic challenger O'Brien will answer questions from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, in Room 3512 of Knauss Hall on the 51福利社 main campus.
Moderating the discussion will be Gordon Evans of public radio 51福利社K and Linda Mah of the Kalamazoo Gazette/MLive. The two news organizations are sponsoring the debate.
The debate is open to the public, but audience members are asked to refrain from bringing political paraphernalia that could be distracting. Parking will be available in the lots next to Miller Auditorium.
Michigan's 6th Congressional District represents southwest Michigan, including all of Berrien, Cass, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph and Van Buren counties and most of Allegan County.
