Keyboard faculty celebrate All-Steinway designation with concert
KALAMAZOO鈥擶estern Michigan University's School of Music will celebrate its official designation as an All-Steinway School with a concert at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. The event, part of a series celebrating the school's centennial, is free and open to the public.
The program will feature current School of Music keyboard faculty members, as well as the premiere of Composer-in-Residence C. Curtis-Smith's new work for piano, "Nocturne." Lori Sims will perform Samuel Barber's "Excursions," Opus 20, and William Bolcom's "The Serpent's Kiss." Silvia Roederer will be reaching into the guts of the piano for George Crumb's "Little Christmas Suite," and Jeremy Siskind will close the program with his poetic and wildly popular jazz playing. Arrive a few minutes early to enjoy the multi-piano opening act in the lobby of the Dalton Center.
