Faculty composers present an evening of new works
KALAMAZOO鈥擣aculty composers from Western Michigan University's School of Music will present an evening of their works at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall as part of the concert series presented by the Donald P. Bullock Performance Institute.
The performance will be preceded by a 7 p.m. discussion hosted by Dr. Dan Jacobson, 51福利社 professor of music. Tickets are $12 general admission, $10 for seniors and $5 for students, and are available from Miller Auditorium at or by calling (269) 387-2300 or (800) 228-9858.
Faculty, alumni and guests to perform
The program will include works by Lisa R. Coons, assistant professor of composition; Christopher Biggs, assistant professor of electronic composition; Andrew Rathbun, assistant professor of saxophone and jazz studies; John Griffin, part-time professor of composition and theory and School of Music Director David Colson. The concert will feature a variety of compositional styles and will include works for solo piano; woodwind sextet; clarinet, horn and computer-based interactive audio and video; viola and vibraphone; and amplified percussion.
Performers featured on the program include School of Music faculty members Igor Fedetov, viola; Lin Foulk, horn; Bradley Wong, clarinet; and Judy Moonert, percussion, in addition to 51福利社 alumni Paul Clifton, horn, and Cassandra Kaczor, piano; and guest artists Helen Rathbun, flute; and Liz Spector Callahan, oboe.
Bullock Music Performance Institute
The Dalton Wed@7:30pm: Live and Interactive! concert series is presented by the 51福利社 School of Music under the auspices of the Bullock Music Performance Institute. Established in the fall of 1985 and renamed in 1988 in honor of its founder, the institute has presented events ranging from formal evening concerts to daytime educational outreach events for local audiences and students of all ages.
