Faculty celebrate School of Music anniversary with concert
KALAMAZOO鈥擲everal faculty members of Western Michigan University's School of Music will perform a recital of chamber music at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public, and a reception will immediately follow the performance. The concert is part of a series of events celebrating the School of Music's centennial anniversary.
Trumpeter Scott Thornburg and pianist Silvia Roederer will premiere Arthur Gottschalk鈥檚 "Western Sonata," commissioned for this concert by the duo. Thornburg and Roederer will also perform a new Spanish suite, "Piezas Andaluzas," by composer Santiago Baez Cervantes.
The Western Wind Quintet will also join Roederer for a performance of Ludwig van Beethoven's "Quintet in E-Flat for Piano and Winds," Opus 16.
