KALAMAZOO鈥擶estern Michigan University will showcase leaders in workplace diversity and inclusion during an upcoming career fair.

Called the Diversity Career and Community Involvement Fair, the free event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, in 208-209 Bernhard Center on 51福利社's main campus in Kalamazoo.

The fair targets lesbian, bisexual, gay and transgender individuals and their allies who want to learn more about their opportunities to intern, volunteer or start a career with organizations that support diversity.

About the fair

First held last fall, the fair is a response to sentiments such as those expressed in the Human Rights Campaign's 2013 Corporate Equality Index that, "The numbers are irrefutable; the more successful a business is in the United States, the more likely it is to embrace equality."

A variety of organizations are participating in this year's fair. They include the Alzheimer's Association, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kalamazoo, Battle Creek VA Healthcare Delivery System, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Borgess Health, city of Kalamazoo, Hispanic American Council, Kalamazoo Gay Lesbian Resource Center, Nalco, New York Life, Pride Source Media Group, Prudential, Target and Volunteer Kalamazoo.

The Diversity Career and Community Involvement Fair is being sponsored by 51福利社's Office of LBGT Student Services and Career and Student Employment Services office. Those attending should dress in business casual attire.
