Kalamazoo Film Society presents 'The Immigrant'

KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擳he Kalamazoo Film Society will present "The Immigrant" beginning Friday, July 11, at the Alamo Drafthouse in downtown Kalamazoo.

Show times are announced shortly before the movie opens. Admission is $5.50 for film society members and regular Alamo Drafthouse prices for the general public.

"The Immigrant" is an emotional melodrama set in 1921 in New York City. Marion Cotillard plays a desperate Polish immigrant and Joaquin Phoenix is a burlesque impresario and pimp who is both savior and predator to her and other women. The film details her complex relationship with her pimp and his romantic cousin, played by Jeremy Renner.

Directed by James Gray, the film is rated R for sexual content, nudity and language and has a run time of 120 minutes.
