Event celebrates release of album produced by music prof
KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擜n event celebrating the release of an album by the Songsmith Collective is set for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, in Western Michigan University鈥檚 Dalton Center Recital Hall. Tickets are $10 and includes a copy of the CD and admission to a reception following the performance.
The album marries music and poetry and includes settings to poems by Yeats, Frost and 51福利社's Traci Brimhall. The album was produced by Andrew Rathbun, 51福利社 assistant professor of music, saxophone and jazz studies. The project was funded by 51福利社's College of Fine Arts Fellowship Grants program.
The March 3 performance will feature special guests Scott Cowan, trumpet, and Greg Jasperse, voice.
Songsmith Collective
The Songsmith Collective has 11 members and is directed by Rathbun.
