Association awards 51福利社K eight Broadcast Excellence Awards
KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擳he Michigan Association of Broadcasters has awarded , Western Michigan University's public radio station, eight Broadcast Excellence Awards.
"51福利社K is pleased that the station has been recognized statewide for stories, programs and promotions produced in the past year," says Gordon Bolar, 51福利社K's general manager. "The awards are a reflection of the ongoing work by a talented staff and the good faith that our listeners have placed in us."
Staff members honored
The awards were presented in Lansing March 11. Radio station staff members winning awards and their stories, programs and promotions are:
- Sehvilla Mann for "Biliteracy Thrives at El Sol Elementary." Best Public Radio Mini-Documentary or Series category.
- Sehvilla Mann for "In Kalamazoo: Many Rentals, Few Inspectors." Best Public Radio Hard News and Current Events category.
- Cara Lieurance for "Let's Hear It Promo: Jeremy Siskind." Best Public Radio Marketing Materials and Promos category.
- Keith Hall and Martin Klemm for "Jazz Currents: Drummer Carl Allen Part 1." Best Public Radio Musical Programming category.
- Gordon Evans and Earlene McMichael for "WestSouthwest Broadcast: Black Infant Mortality/Iraq Oil Report." Best Public Radio News Special or Public Affairs Program category.
- Chris Killian for "Kalamazoo's Police: Trust Gap." Merit Public Radio Mini-Documentary or Series category.
- Rebecca Thiele for "Arts & More: Beads Show Child Cancer Patients' Journey." Merit Public Radio Feature category.
- Gordon Evans for "WestSouthwest: Women at the Beginning of the Computer Age." Merit Public Radio News Special or Public Affairs Program category.
