Western and Wisconsin brass quintets to collaborate on concert
KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擳he Western Brass Quintet will join the Wisconsin Brass Quintet in a collaborative program showcasing works for double quintet and two major works for brass quintet at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, in Western Michigan University鈥檚 Dalton Center Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
The Western Brass Quintet was invited by the Wisconsin Brass Quintet to perform at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall of 2014. During the four-day visit, discussion about future collaborations grew into an invitation for the Wisconsin Brass Quintet to perform at 51福利社. The groups are two of the longest running and most progressive faculty brass quintets in the United States.
The concert will feature works for double quintet by Anthony Plog, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Dimitri Shostakovich. In addition, the Western Brass Quintet will perform Pierre Jalbert鈥檚 "Brass Quintet," and the Wisconsin Brass Quintet will perform Jan Bach鈥檚 "Rounds and Dances."
