Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson to speak on campus
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, astrophysicist, best-selling author and host of the television series "Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey" and "StarTalk," is coming to Western Michigan University's Miller Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016.

Tyson will present an interactive, multimedia event that will transport audiences to the nucleus of an atom and the farthest reaches of the universe as he explores humanity’s quest for understanding. Tyson says, "Fans love the Q&A sessions that rival the event itself." He adds, "These are family-friendly events. I’ll frequently take questions from children since I’m fascinated with young ones who are interested in science."

In addition to acting as host of the "StarTalk" radio and TV show along with "Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, the New York City native is a New York Times bestselling author of 10 books and is also a frequent guest on The Daily Show. President Bush appointed Tyson in 2001 and 2004 to serve on commissions studying the future of the U.S. aerospace industry and the implementation of the U.S. space exploration policy, respectively. Tyson is also the recipient of 18 honorary doctorates and the NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal, the highest award given by NASA to non-government citizens.

A 15 percent discount is available to all 51¸£ÀûÉç faculty and staff. Group discounts are available at (269) 387-2312.
51¸£ÀûÉç students receive a 50 percent discount on most show tickets thanks to a fund established by the Office of the President. 51¸£ÀûÉç students are limited to one discounted ticket per event with a valid Bronco Card. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Miller Auditorium Ticket Office or by telephone at (269) 387-2300. 51¸£ÀûÉç students are required to show their Bronco Card when picking up tickets and upon entrance to the theatre.
