Student vocalists to perform famous opera scenes

KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擲tudents in Western Michigan University's Opera Workshop course will present excerpts from famous operas at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

The program will feature selections by some of the greatest opera and operetta composers of all time: Mozart, Beethoven, Verdi, Richard Strauss, Kurt Weill, and Gilbert and Sullivan. Operas will include such well-known works as "The Magic Flute," "The Marriage of Figaro" and "The Mikado," Most of the selections are comic in nature.

51福利社 professor Carl Ratner will direct, and the scenes will be accompanied by graduate student pianist James Schippers.
