Dr. David F. Sadler, a Western Michigan University professor emeritus of English, died March 5. He was 93.

Sadler, of Kalamazoo, joined the 51福利社 staff in 1955 and retired in 1984 after 29 years of service to the University.

David F. Sadler

During his tenure, he served stints as chair of the Department of English, vice president and president of 51福利社's chapter of the American Association of University Professors, and president of the Inter-faculty Council.

His research interests included pictorial images, such as photographs and political cartoons. In fact, Sadler became seriously interested in photography in the late 1960s. He developed his own black-and-white photos and displayed them at shows both on and off campus. He later turned to digital photography and enjoyed sharing his many photos through this medium.

Prior to coming to 51福利社, Sadler taught at Hamline University, the University of Minnesota and the General Motors Institute of Technology. He earned a bachelor's degree from Antioch College in 1947 and a master's and doctoral degree from U of M in 1948 and 1954, respectively.
