Diversity celebrated at annual Pride event

Kalamazoo Pride begins Friday, June 10.

KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擜 two-day event celebrating diversity of sexual orientation and gender identity will feature live music, food and activities and will run Friday and Saturday, June 10-11, in the Arcadia Creek Festival Site in downtown Kalamazoo.

Entertainment and activities

Entertainment for the ninth annual Kalamazoo Pride begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday with a local DJ, the "Miss or Mister Kalamazoo Pride 2016" local drag competition, a performance by Chicago cover band Catfight, which will play classic favorites and current chart-topping hits, as well as Luciana, "The Queen of Electro," an electronic music artist who brings her unique sound to Kalamazoo.

Performances on Saturday kick off at 1:30 p.m. with a local DJ and Kalamazoo鈥檚 Maple Street Middle School choir. Performances continue with country artist Nathan Douglas and Thory Thor of the hit series RuPaul's Drag Race.

Saturday's popular vendor alley features affirming and inclusive organizations and businesses, as well as food and beverage vendors from all over southwest Michigan.
