KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Except for essential and emergency services, Western Michigan University offices will be closed Monday, July 4, in observance of U.S. Independence Day. Summer classes will not meet July 4.

Listed below are Independence Day holiday hours for select University offices and services. In most cases, offices are closed July 4 and open during normal summer hours the remainder of the week. Faculty, students and the public are encouraged to call ahead to make sure that a particular office on campus is open.

• Many offices, including Admissions, Bronco Express, financial aid, First-Year Experience programs, are closed Monday, July 4, and open normal summer hours the rest of the week.
• Bernhard Center and all Bronco Mall stores are closed Monday, July 4, and open normal summer hours the rest of the week.
• Bernhard Center computer lab closes at 10 p.m. Sunday, July 3, and reopens at 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 5.
• Information Technology Help Desk is closed Monday, July 4, and open normal summer hours the rest of the week.
• Sindecuse Health Center closes at 5 p.m. Friday, July 1, and the pharmacy will be open for prescription pickup until 5:30 p.m. that day. The center and pharmacy will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 5. The Medical emergencies should be referred to local hospitals or other health care providers.
• Student Recreation Center closes at 6 p.m. Friday, July 1, and reopens at 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 5.
• Unified Clinics are closed Monday, July 4, and open normal summer hours the rest of the week.
• University Computing Center lab closes at 5 p.m. Friday, July 1, and reopens at 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 5.
• Waldo Library is closed Saturday through Monday, July 2-4, and open normal summer hours the rest of the week. All branch libraries also are closed July 2-4.

To reduce energy costs while the University is closed, heating and cooling systems in all office and classroom buildings controlled by the 51¸£ÀûÉç Building Energy Management System will be in holiday mode. Air handlers will not run during this time, unless a space is exempt from the program or the temperature in a particular space goes outside of the range of 60 to 85 degrees. Portions of a particular building that do not normally go into night setback mode will not go into holiday mode.

Employees are reminded to shut off and unplug all non-essential electronics before the long weekend.
