New alum's photo chosen for national promotions
KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擜 spring commencement photo of April honors alumnus J. Gabriel Ware will be used nationally in promotional pieces for Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest, largest and most selective honor society for all academic disciplines.
A photo of Ware taken by 51福利社 photographer Mike Lanka on April 30 has been selected by the honors organization as first place winner in its Spring 2016 Graduation Photo Contest. The photo shows Ware crossing the Miller Auditorium stage in regalia that includes stoles and honor cords marking his achievements as a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Lambda Pi Eta communication honorary and Tau Sigma transfer student honorary. His regalia also marked his status as a Seita Scholar, Presidential Scholar and an honor student.
Second and third place winners in the photo contest were students from the University of Maryland and the University of Illinois at Chicago, respectively. Each received an Amazon gift card in addition to Phi Kappa Phi's commitment to use the photos in marketing and promotional materials.
Ware, of Detroit, graduated summa cum laude with a degree in journalism from 51福利社's School of Communication.
