KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擶estern Michigan University's Office of Military and Veterans Affairs has opened registration for its first Universitywide military scholarship, with applications being taken through April 1.

Eligibility

The Veterans and Dependents Scholarship is a need-based award and will be available to those currently serving, those who have served and military dependents. Unlike other military scholarships, there are no requirements or restrictions regarding major, minor or branch of service.

Eligible students must apply by Saturday, April 1. Students awarded the scholarship will be notified by May 1. Eligibility criteria and application information can be found at wmich.edu/westernwarrior.

The Office of Military and Veterans Affairs launched its #IAmAWesternWarrior campaign during 51福利社's Fall Welcome to bring awareness to the scholarship. More events are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

A Purple Heart University

In addition to being consistently recognized as "vet friendly" and "best for vets," 51福利社 was named the first Purple Heart University in Michigan. The designation comes from Battle Creek鈥檚 Chapter 110 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Chapter 110 is also supporting the distribution of a special campus parking permit to Purple Heart veterans who are 51福利社 students, faculty or staff members. The year-long permits, given to Purple Heart veterans free of charge, provide enhanced parking privileges and are effective this fall.
