Broncos win blood donation contest

Give blood, give life.

KALAMAZOO, Mich—51¸£ÀûÉç beat Central Michigan University in the March 31 Blood Bash to generate blood product for the American Red Cross, winning the friendly annual contest for the fourth consecutive year.

51¸£ÀûÉç collected 234 units while CMU collected 126 units—enough product to save more than 1,000 lives, Cris Obreiter, administrative assistant II in the Department of Military Science and Leadership, recently reported.

The win was due to some 300 donors, as well as 51¸£ÀûÉç's Red Cross Club under the direction of graduated senior Jimmy Brand and considerable logistical help.

"Helping with the set up and tear down were members of various Greek chapters and Army ROTC," Obreiter noted. "Those who couldn't help, donated, and some who were deferred stayed around for moral support for their friends."
