Stulberg silver medalist to perform with University Symphony Orchestra
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The Western Michigan University Symphony Orchestra will perform the first concert of its 2017–18 season at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, in Miller Auditorium. Admission is free.
The concert is a collaborative event with the Stulberg International String Competition. 2017 Stulberg Competition silver medalist, violinist Qing Yu Chen, will be the featured soloist on the Violin Concerto No. 2 in G Minor by Sergei Prokofiev. The concert will begin with Antonin Dvorak's festive Carnival Overture, Op. 92. The centerpiece of the concert is the popular Symphony No. 5 in E Minor, Op. 64 by Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky.
