The Symphony Orchestra's performance will feature works by Beethoven and Ravel.

KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擶estern Michigan University鈥檚 Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Bruce Uchimura, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

The concert will include Ludwig van Beethoven鈥檚 "Overture to Fidelio," his only known opera, and his "Symphony No. 4 in B-Flat Major Op. 60." Also on the program will be Maurice Ravel's "Le Tombeau de Couperin," an orchestral transcription of an original piano piece that paid homage to French music from the 18th century. The music demonstrates Ravel鈥檚 mastery of orchestral color and texture.
