Theatre to present 'The Game's Afoot'
KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擩ust in time for the holiday season, Western Michigan University Theatre continues its 2017-18 season with the comedy and murder mystery "The Game's Afoot," which opens Friday, Nov. 10, in the Shaw Theatre at the Gilmore Theatre Complex, and plays through Sunday, Nov. 19.
'The Game's Afoot'
This nonstop romp is as hair-raising as it is hilarious as actor William Gillette, known the world-around for his role as Sherlock Holmes, hosts his fellow cast-members for a weekend of revelry in his Connecticut castle. The festivities take a turn when one of the guests is stabbed and Gillette dons his iconic deerstalker hat to assume his persona of Holmes, this time to track a real-life killer. Who knows what will happen next in this castle full of mirrors and hidden rooms.
When discussing the production, Director Mark Liermann said, "This show is pure fun. We have yet to get through a rehearsal without stopping to laugh. Our actors are making great comedic discoveries, and I know that when it all comes together, our audiences are in for a real treat.
"The gorgeous period costumes and detailed scenic design are really something to look forward to. It's a fantastic escape from daily life, with the added charm and excitement of Christmas time."
Audience members won't want to blink and risk missing a moment of this break-neck comedy and murder mystery, coming complete with all the holiday bells, whistles and model trains the heart could ask for.
