Spring career-related events set; fairs are open to public
KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擶estern Michigan University will hold two specialized career fairs next month that are open to the public and two preparatory events starting Sunday, March 25, that are open to selected students.
Everyone attending the fairs should wear business casual or business professional attire and bring a supply of resumes. More information, including lists of participating employers, is available by visiting the Career and Student Employment Services website at wmich.edu/career/events.
Public career fairs
- Meet aviation employers and discuss internships and full-time jobs in the industry by attending the 10th annual Aviation Outlook Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, April 6. The event will take place in 51福利社's Aircraft Maintenance Center, 135 Helmer Road N, on the aviation campus in Battle Creek. - The 30th annual Education Career Fair is set for 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, in the Bernhard Center's East Ballroom on 51福利社's Main Campus in Kalamazoo. Student preparation events
- Students will get 40 percent off career dress apparel during the 51福利社 Suit Up event at J.C. Penney in the Crossroads Mall in Portage at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 25. The sale is only for 51福利社 students and recent 51福利社 alumni. Included in the sale are suits, dresses, sports coats, dress pants, shoes and accessories. Additional giveaways and prizes will be available at Sephora inside J.C. Penney and the salon.

- Students in aviation, engineering and business may be most interested, but all students are invited to attend the aviation industry's fifth annual Educational Initiative Event at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 5, in the Bernhard Center's North Ballroom on 51福利社's Main Campus.
The event, which includes refreshments, is being sponsored by the Michigan Business Aviation Association and the West Michigan Business Aviation Association and hosted by the 51福利社 College of Aviation. Support also is provided by MASCO Flight Operations and Alaska Aerofuel. Members of the two sponsoring organizations, such as Bissell Inc., Dow Chemical Co., Gulfstream Aerospace and Stryker, gather at this event each year to mentor students who are exploring careers in aviation and provide information about these careers. A panel presentation and an opportunity for students to be part of a roundtable discussion are part of the event activities.
Students who attend are encouraged to continue their networking April 6 by talking with the many company representatives who will be at 51福利社's Aviation Outlook Day.
