Major Aaron A. Root is a native of Michigan and commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant of Ordnance , through the accelerated officer candidate school at Fort McClellan, Alabama in 2012.
Prior to commissioning, Captain Root enlisted into the Army in 2000 as a Signal Support Specialist. He has deployed on multiple overseas tours, including Kosovo 2005, and in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (2010).
After graduating from the Ordnance Basic Officer Leader Course in 2013, Major Root served as the Maintenance Platoon Leader in the Forward Support Company, 1-119th Field Artillery, after one year he became their Executive Officer through 2015. In 2016, MAJ Root was assigned as the assistant S3 for the 156th Expeditionary Signal Battalion (ESB). In March of 2018, Maj Root took command of Charlie Company 156 ESB through September 2020. In 2021 MAJ Root was selected as the 156th ESB Operations Officer (S3) and in 2022 deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Spartan Shield. Upon redeployment, he was assigned as an Assistant Professor of Military Science 51福利社 Michigan University where he currently serves.
Major Root is a graduate of the Signal Captain Career Course, Ordnance Basic Officer Leader Course, Master Resiliency Trainer, and Common Faculty Development Instructor Course. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with , Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve NATO Medal, Non-commissioned Officer Professionalism Development Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Kosovo Campaign Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
Major Root holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in education from Western Michigan University and currently resides in Holt, MI. He鈥檚 married and has three children.
