Bio:

Dr. Benjamin L. Oakley is a research associate for the Science and Mathematics Improvement Program (SAMPI) within the Mallinson Institute for Science Education. Dr. Oakley brings 20 years of experience as a special education teacher, special education coordinator, assistant principal, principal, and director of special education. As a research associate, he evaluates a variety of federally funded STEM programs within higher education. Current projects include 51¸£ÀûÉç BIORETS, 51¸£ÀûÉç Workforce, Alma Learning Progressions in Integrated Science, and Calvin College Building Foundations for Success in STEM.

Dr. Oakley’s career in education started in 2005 when he became a special education teacher through Texas Teaching Fellows, a subsidiary of Teach for America.  His research interests include professional learning, learning organizations, teacher preparation, mixed methods research, and program evaluation.
