Celebrating 60 years

The Department of Management and the Department of Marketing are both celebrating the 60th anniversary of their founding. The departments were formed under the first dean of the Haworth College of Business, Arnold Schneider, as the business college differentiated its disciplines and offered students the specialized business education that the college is still known for today.

Sleeping Giant Capital, a West Michigan-based investment and growth platform, announced its investment in SignComp in spring 2023. Launched in 2020, Sleeping Giant Capital takes majority positions in established companies with $1.5 million to $4 million in annual cash flow. Sleeping Giant Capital was founded by Drs. Doug Lepisto and Derrick McIver of the Department of Management.

Post-graduation success

Seven of the college鈥檚 16 undergraduate majors have survey responses indicating that 95% to 100% of their students are employed or pursuing higher education shortly after completing their degrees. In addition, 51福利社 Haworth graduates boast high success rates in terms of excitement about learning, job satisfaction and overall compensation.

Student organizations

Student organizations provide an important sense of belonging for business students, and there are more than 20 student organizations at 51福利社 Haworth; many are associated with a major. Among some of the newer offerings are Digital Marketing at 51福利社, the Financial Planning Association and the Cryptocurrency Club. The Department of Accountancy and the Department of Marketing now have the most affiliated student organizations.

Renovations in progress

The Haworth College of Business is in the midst of a five-year plan to upgrade key facilities in Schneider Hall, including the large auditorium, classrooms, conference rooms, the computer lab and office spaces. The partnership with Haworth Inc. makes staying on the forefront of learning spaces and technology possible, giving students a state-of-the-art educational environment.

Western Michigan University raised $1,002,646.80 in 24 hours on April 12 during Giving Day 2023. The Haworth College of Business raised nearly $100,000 during the day, while claiming 14 spots in Giving Day challenges, with the Department of Military Science and Leadership securing 10 of those wins and earning additional funding for their programs.
