Carolyn Pavlik is a Professor of Dance 51福利社 Michigan University. She earned her M.F.A in Dance from the University of Washington and her B.A. in Dance from the University of Texas. She is the co-editor of 鈥淪ite Dance: Choreographers and the Lure of Alternative Spaces" along with colleague Melanie Kloetzel. Pavlik has presented her site dance research at national and international conferences including Impulses for Dance: Dance in the Community (Portugal), Congress on Research in Dance, Society of Dance History Scholars, National Dance Educators Organization, and the International Site-specific Performance Symposium. Her site research has been published in these conference proceedings as well as the "Australia New Zealand Dance Journal" and "In Dance". Pavlik鈥檚 dance for the camera works have been presented worldwide, most notably at the American Dance Festival, LesGaiCineMad (Madrid), VII Festival Internacional de Video-danza de Buenos Aires, 7th Wordless International Short Film Festival (Sydney), Cineautopsia: Bogota Experimental Film Festival Bogota, and 41st Seattle International Film Festival. Carolyn received the 2004-05 Dances with Video Award by the Austin Critics Table Award and the 2008 Maggie Allesee New Choreography Award for her concert choreography. She previously performed professionally with numerous companies and artists including Sharir+Bustamante DanceWorks, Kathleen Hermesdorff, Kathy Dunn Hamrick, and site choreographer Sally Jacques and was featured in works by renowned choreographers Ohad Naharin, Doug Varone, Senta Driver, and Bebe Miller. Carolyn is also certified in Polestar Pilates and is trained in Myofascial Release Technique, Deep Tissue Massage, Thai Massage and Shiatsu.
