School of Music Spaces
Dalton Center Recital Hall
The main performance venue for the Irving S. Gilmore School of Music. The 358-seat hall features stunning acoustics, three 9' Steinway D grand pianos, and multimedia capabilities featuring laser projection. The raked seating leads to a raised stage measuring 50' across and 31' deep. The attached Green Room is suitable for receptions, and three dressing rooms are also available. Dalton Center Lecture Hall
A more intimate performance space with 112 seats and a raised stage. The space includes a Steinway B grand piano and multimedia capability. Contact Kevin West for rental information.
Choral Rehearsal Room
A large rehearsal space with 25-foot ceilings acoustically isolated, designed and equipped for choral ensembles.
Instrumental Rehearsal Room
Also with 25-foot ceilings, the largest rehearsal space in Dalton Center is designed for bands and orchestras and is capable of accommodating a 75-piece orchestra with a 200-voice chorus.
Noack Organ Studio
The pipe organ studio contains a free-standing, two-manual, mechanical-action instrument built by Fritz Noack of Georgetown, Massachusetts. Featuring a 25-foot ceiling and gracefully scalloped brick walls, the studio accommodates approximately 50 people in an intimate recital setting.
Electronic Music Lab
This is a state-of-the-art creative space for students to realize projects involving digital media. Students learn the skills necessary to complete projects involving digital audio software, including electroacoustic concert music, video game music, movie music, sound design, installations, and multimedia works.
Western Sound Studios
This multi-track digital facility is designed to accommodate the recording of chamber music and jazz. The central recording control room primarily serves the recording studio and recital hall but is also interconnected to microphones in all three large rehearsal rooms, the electronic music studio, and the Multimedia Room.
