Educational leadership alum appointed president of college personnel association
KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擜 Western Michigan University alum was sworn in as the next president of the (ACPA-Michigan). Casey Dubina, a graduate of the College of Education and Human Development's higher education and student affairs (HESA) leadership program, will serve in the position to promote college student educators in Michigan.
"It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the president," says Dubina. "It has been such a rewarding experience to revitalize the chapter since it has been on hiatus and not only give it new life but see how we can serve a new group of HESA professionals. I am deeply humbled to be working with such a great group of people from institutions all across Michigan and am so excited to serve the Chapter鈥檚 constituents."
A division of the national association, ACPA-Michigan provides a forum for networking, professional development and research opportunities for professionals working in higher education. Members of the association represent over 40 different Michigan institutions, and range from graduate students to teaching faculty to senior student affairs officers. Dubina has been a member since 2017.
"In the next year, I am hoping to bring back our NextGen program to our regional conference, increase membership engagement, and create a home for our HESA family across the state to collaborate and share innovative ideas and best practices," says Dubina.
With the new appointment, Dubina will continue serving as the director of advising and career services at Lake Michigan College - Benton Harbor. She has been with the college since 2019 and assumed the director position in May 2024.
