Software for students with low-vision
- Dragon Naturally Speaking (version 11), installed on computers in study rooms for privacy, allows students to create documents by using "voice-to-text" technology.
- JAWS (Job Access with Speech) is installed on some computers in the hub for the convenience of students who are visually impaired. JAWS produces Braille for reading or an internal speech software program called Eloquence to produce audio.
- Kurzweil 1000 is installed on one computer in the hub. This software reads text aloud in a variety of natural-sounding voices. Use this program to create, edit, summarize, and outline text. Kurzweil 1000 uses scanning optimization to enhance brightness, resolution and image quality.
- SmartNav is installed on the computer in the conference room. It reads a reflective dot, placed on a headset. SmartNav is placed on top of the monitor for easy access, but it can be placed anywhere it can read the reflective dot.
- Tieman Optelec Clearview 500 AF Enlarger makes printed material easier to read for people with low vision. Print from various sources is enlarged and displayed on a monitor.
