General summary
Negotiates, reviews and monitors contracts for research-related external funding from development through execution.
Major duties
- Consults with sponsors, principal investigators and internal constituents, including the Office of Legal Affairs to identify and negotiate contracts associated with external funding.
- Ensures contract compliance with University policies, state and federal law and sponsor guidelines.
- Prepares, processes, and monitors contracts associated with external funding awards through stages of initial development to approval by all parties.
- Develops and provides resources regarding research contracts for faculty and staff.
- Assists university researchers and departmental staff with administrative support of research funding.
- Disseminates related federal agency and sponsor information.

Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Experience in contract administration or research administration.
- Budget management experience.
- Project management experience.
- Working knowledge of federal grant and contract regulations.
- Working knowledge of current research administration issues.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with staff, academic scholars, entrepreneurs and industry executives.

Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
