General summary
Directs the clinical services of the Autism Center for Excellence.
Major duties
- Provides direct patient care assessment and treatment in the Autism Center for Excellence to children with autism and their families, including consultation, history-taking, psychological testing, diagnosis, evaluation and testing.
- May conduct research endeavors to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions used in children with autism.
- Communicates and consults with other clinicians, therapists and health professionals.
- Supervises clinical issues that arise for families, children and staff in the clinic and research.
- Assists with establishing the Autism Center for Excellence and develops and maintains the overall systems management of the clinic. Assists with the development of models of service to meet the needs of families and to partner effectively with community medical providers.
- Provides training and supervision to student interns. Enhances the student learning and professional development.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Doctoral degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Five years' relevant experience.
- Supervisory or lead experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in budget forecasting and strategic planning.
- Knowledge of regulations and protocols governing care of and services for autism
Required other
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D).
- Licensure as a Psychologist in the State of Michigan.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
