General summary
Coordinates the clinical experiences for education-related internship programs.
Major duties
- Builds and maintains relationships with public schools. Serves as a liaison for school district personnel and University faculty, staff, and students. Visits and observes partners in the field to solicit appropriate placement opportunities.
- Collaborates with faculty, community partners, and teacher candidates in undergraduate and advanced programs to place teacher candidates in clinical experiences in partner schools in a timely manner. Tracks all placements for assigned programs. Registers and clears teacher candidates for pre and final internship experiences. Communicates concerns with advisors and faculty.
- Supports the accreditation process, enforcement of state and national policy and procedures, and communication protocols for the college of education and human development. Supports clinical experience assessment system for the office of clinical experiences in collaboration with faculty in undergraduate and advanced programs.
- Manages website content, background check procedures and documentation. Trains administrative assistants, faculty, staff, students, and partners with all documentation and processes related to clinical experiences.
- Assists in preparing teacher candidates for clinical experiences through classroom visits, orientations, professional development, observations, and interventions throughout their professional program. May teach or assist with final internship seminar.
- Assists with all clinical experience application processes. This includes processing all pre-internship and internship applications. Provides statistical and analytical reports relative to clinical experiences.
- Provides training, development, and evaluation of school partners and clinical instructors. Conducts and organizes relevant workshops and training for students.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- One year's relevant experience.
- Work experience in a K-12 public school setting.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Excellent customer service and public relations skills.
- Proficiency with word-processing and spreadsheet software.
- Experience with using querying databases.
- Experience entering and tracking data.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
