General summary
Manages all functions associated with the hi-density storage unit, stacks maintenance and facility operations of the historical records and regional history collections center.
Major duties
- Manages facility and ensures a safe environment and security for library employees, users and resources. Monitors the custodial and maintenance environment of the library that includes schedules, signage, work-order tracking, building access and alarms.
- Manages, plans, relocates and maintains the hi-density storage unit, stacks and furnishings. Analyzes physical collections statistics for related space considerations, plans and justifications.
- Maintains and assesses workflows. Provides statistical reporting. Maintains patron and usage statistics related to the building and collections.
- Manages workflows and information requests from local and international users. Assists library users with a rage of references and research inquires using collections, databases and other resources.
- Provides clarifications and interpretation of library policies and procedures. Utilizes library management software and online resources to support patron transactions and inquiries.
- Participates in library-wide activities and digital initiatives. Supports instruction both in person and via eLearning, and engages in general outreach.
- Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises student employees.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience managing a facility.
- Project management experience.
- Knowledge of integrated library management software and applications.
Required other
- License to operate order picker lift truck required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), or ability to obtain license within probationary period.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
