General summary

Negotiates, reviews, revises, and tracks contracts for research-related external funding through contract closing.

Major duties

  • Collaborates with sponsors, sub-awardees, principal investigators and internal constituents, and negotiates contracts associated with external funding.
  • Prepares, processes, and tracks contracts associated with external funding from stages of initial development to approval by all parties.
  • Develops and provides resources regarding contracts for faculty and staff, including professional development.
  • Prepares correspondence to sponsors requesting contract modification.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Two years, relevant experience.
  • Ability to interpret contract regulations.
  • Experience with research.
  • Office software skills, including word-processing, presentations, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and independently manage multiple, projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
