Department Explores Studying Abroad in Malaysia
Dr. Donna Talbot, professor and chair of the Department of Educational Leadership, Research and Technology (ELRT) and Dr. D. Eric Archer, assistant professor of higher education leadership recently traveled to Malaysia to explore study abroad opportunities for masters and doctoral students in ELRT. While in Malaysia, Drs. Talbot and Archer met with many 51福利社 alumni in the country as well as visited several public and private universities including the University of Malaya, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Sunway University, Heriot Watt University Malaysia, and IPG Campus Melaka. During this visit, both Dr. Talbot and Dr. Archer participated in a 51福利社 Malaysia alumni association event in Kuala Lumpur. The 51福利社 Malaysia alumni association has over 450 active members and 51福利社 has approximately 2500 alumni from Malaysia.
Drs. Talbot and Archer visited a number of educational and cultural sites including the Kalamazoo Cafe in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, cultural sites in Melaka, Malaysia, and the city of Johor Bahru. In addition to exploring a number of cultural highlights in Malaysia, Drs. Talbot and Archer met with university administrators to discuss potential exchange opportunities between 51福利社 and Malaysian universities. The ELRT department plans to take 10 to 15 graduate students to study abroad in Malaysia during the summer I 2016 term.
