ELRT PhD Student and Professor Awarded Timothy Light Center for Chinese Studies Research Grant

Yvonne Zhang, PhD student in higher education leadership, and Dr. Eric Archer, associate professor of higher education leadership, were recently awarded a 51福利社 Timothy Light Center for Chinese Studies Research Grant to support their ongoing research on the internationalization of higher education in China. Their research, Strategies for Internationalization in Chinese Universities: Two Case Studies, examines strategies utilized by Chinese institutions of higher education to promote internationalization efforts and seeks to highlight indigenous Chinese approaches to internationalization that may differ from existing research on internationalization in Western countries.

Established in fall 2010, the Timothy Light Center for Chinese Studies was created to enhance the work of faculty and graduate researchers 51福利社 Michigan University who have expertise in some field of Sinology or teaching or research interests in China. Light Center for Chinese Studies Research provides support to Western Michigan University faculty for research and creative activities related to the study of greater China. The family of Dr. Timothy Light, professor emeritus of comparative religion and former 51福利社 provost, provided funding for the center and its activities through a generous endowment.
