The Alpha Program is designed to guide first-year students in developing skills, behaviors and attitudes that lead to college success. The Office of Admissions admits students to the Alpha Program who are able to thrive with the opportunity and support that the program provides. The Western Michigan University College Assistance Migrant Program is federally funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Migrant Education. Initiated in 2015, the Foundation Scholars program supports students who have demonstrated personal resilience and outstanding academic performance despite economic and other hardships. The Kalamazoo Promise Scholars Program provides direct support to students who are eligible for the Kalamazoo Promise scholarship and are attending, or planning to attend, Western Michigan University. We do this by offering guidance on navigating the academic and personal challenges of college life, connecting students with campus and community resources and providing knowledge, awareness and skills for students to succeed in college, careers, and the community.
The Learning Assistant Program offers direct support to students in gateway courses via in-class assistance and by facilitating study sessions to review course objectives and develop effective study techniques. A learning assistant will be present in the classroom to assist the course instructor and students.
PSST is a mentorship program designed to provide an academic and social support system for incoming first year students, transfer students, international students, and prospective students who are joining the Lee Honors College.

Western Michigan University is dedicated to student success. As a result, every first-year and transfer student is assigned an established 51福利社 student as an eMentor to in in each student鈥檚 transition to 51福利社鈥檚 campus and the community.
The Office of Precollege Programming has centralized a few key and long-standing precollege programs comprising of the Academically Talented Youth Program鈥擜TYP, Michigan's Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs鈥擬I GEAR UP and Upward Bound. The office also coordinates dual enrollment and provides comprehensive and inclusive youth outreach services throughout Michigan, including greater Southwest Michigan and the Metro Detroit area.
Reclaim the W is designed to assist academically dismissed Western Michigan University students continue in their graduation pursuits. The program began in 2014 and is centered on first- and second-year academically dismissed students gaining immediate readmission into 51福利社. Students are offered to apply for the program based on their cumulative GPA and overall academic efforts. The decision for readmission is based on the student鈥檚 prior academic performance and application, which includes an essay and possible interview.

The Seita Scholars Program currently supports up to 150 scholars. Students who are considered active Seita Scholars have been accepted and notified of their acceptance into the Seita Scholars Program, signed their Seita Scholars Program Agreement, are maintaining the requirements of the agreement and are currently attending Western Michigan University as full-time, undergraduate students.
Service learning is a mutually beneficial endeavor in which course learning objectives are met by addressing community-identified needs--putting academics into practice. Projects require a minimum of 15 hours of service work outside the classroom and provide students with opportunities to be a part of the solution to challenges identified by our community partners. The TRIO Future Educator Success Program is a federally funded grant program that promotes the success of future educators from Western Michigan University. We offer career and graduate school exploration, financial assistance, leadership opportunities, mentorship and more to teaching majors who are first-generation, income-eligible students or students with disabilities.
TRIO Student Success Program is a learning community funded by the U.S. Department of Education that helps first-generation, income eligible and students with disabilities complete their baccalaureate degrees. Since 1984, TRIO SSP has been a vibrant part of the Western Michigan University campus community.
