Libraries seek student artwork, research for spring exhibit
The newly created exhibit space is located on Waldo Library鈥檚 second floor in the rotunda. The space was refreshed this fall with a rail system that allows for easy installation and removal of two-dimensional pieces. The system allows for maximum flexibility to showcase students鈥 creative and research works.
鈥淲e would love to get a variety of submissions鈥攁nything that can hang on a wall!鈥 says Dr. Micky Carignano, assistant professor and natural sciences librarian.
"Posters or art that students create for classes or independent research are perfect for this exhibit, but even if it's just something creative you do in your free time, we'd love to see it," adds Carignano.
鈥淭here are a lot of excellent student research and creative activities happening on campus,鈥 says Dylan Juhl, assistant professor and humanities librarian. 鈥淭he library already supports students earlier in their process with a place to study, access to materials, and one-on-one research help. This exhibit allows us to support students at the end of the process when they are ready to share their work.鈥
Juhl, Carignano and Dr. Kate Langan created Waldo Library鈥檚 new exhibit space and will curate the spring showcase. The space currently features art and research from library staff and faculty to test the rail system.
Submissions are due at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8. Students selected for the exhibit will be contacted by Dec. 11. The exhibit will be installed in January and debut at Waldo Fest on Jan. 23.
