Oct. 31, 2024—The Office of Information Technology’s Help Desk in Swain Library will return to its permanent home in the University Computing Center in January. Walk-in tech support will be available in Swain through Jan. 10.

Oct. 31, 2024—A revised and extended Western Michigan University Campus History Map has been released. This map showcases the history and growth of our campus from its beginnings in 1903 to the recently opened Student Center in 2023.

A new dual enrollment opportunity allows KPS students to take advanced Spanish courses through Western at little to no cost, giving them the opportunity to earn college credits while still in high school.

51������ graduate students Stephanie Lamos and Nicole Variot recently attended the Great Lakes Association of Child Life Professionals' annual conference. They were able to attend thanks to scholarships awarded to them by the association.

Senior food marketing student, Victoria Kellogg, wants to make an impact in the food industry. Originally from Climax, Michigan, Kellogg transferred to the Western Michigan University Haworth College of Business from Kalamazoo Valley Community College (KVCC), bringing with her a passion for the rapid pace and constant innovation of the business world. 

For digital marketing student Keenan Millar, waiting to complete a degree to start a career is not his style. Instead, the sophomore from Kalamazoo, Michigan, runs his own freelance digital marketing business while pursuing his education 51������ Michigan University’s Haworth College of Business.

Digital marketing and psychology student, Josie Holecko, is making positive impacts on the community around her. Originally from Neenah, Wisconsin, the senior 51������ Michigan University’s Haworth College of Business recently assisted a local business with marketing and branding, not only enhancing the company's popularity, but her own educational journey. 

The College of Aviation’s 15-member Sky Broncos team swept first place in both flight and ground events at its regional competition Oct. 6-11 at Ohio State University, advancing to the national contest May 12-17 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Anaia Kassenda, a fashion design student 51������ Michigan University, is returning to Congo to complete her internship. She is using her modern skills and techniques to create traditional Congolese outfits.

51������ faculty have published a new 2,000-page handbook that profiles 135 influential educational thinkers. The handbook covers figures from past to the present day and highlights their impact on educational theory and practice.

51������'s Esports Arena is hosting a free event on November 8th from 6-9 PM featuring guest speaker Edward Cleland. The event will focus on health and well-being strategies for gamers.

The summit is at the 51������ Student Center on Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to attend, from information technology professionals and business leaders to educators, students and anyone in the general public interested in expanding their knowledge of cybersecurity.

The unanimously approved salary increases cover the 2024-25 and 2025-26 fiscal years. 

The board will consider approving economic compensation, health care benefits and insurance adjustments to the University's employee agreement with the 51������-AAUP.
 

Dr. Lusike Mukhongo and Western students are redefining service-learning through film and media production projects, emphasizing non-extractive and non-intrusive approaches to filmmaking. 

In addition to all the lively events planned for students, families and alumni are invited to take part in homecoming festivities.

Western Michigan University is partnering with Kent Career Tech Center to provide a direct pathway to the College of Aviation for high school students in aviation career and technical education programs.

“The Corner” is an interactive hub on the first floor of the 51������ Student Center where Discover Kalamazoo staff will engage with students, faculty and visitors.

51������ allocates permanent funding to the Student Rights and Responsibilities (SRR) restorative justice program, an alternative, non-conduct resolution process implemented to address a broader spectrum of student behavior concerns. 

Dr. Bianca Nightengale-Lee joined Western in August.

The event will feature a panel of three distinguished female leaders from 51������, KVCC and Kalamazoo College, each of whom has made significant contributions to the field of higher education.

Kristina Pierce, a senior human resource management student 51������ Michigan University’s Haworth College of Business, was recently awarded a national scholarship from the Society for Human Resource Management. Pierce received the merit-based $2,500 SHRM Foundation Undergraduate Academic Scholarship, which recognizes students’ accomplishments, scholastic ability and leadership potential.

For accountancy student Victor Andres Hernandez Lagos, Western Michigan University is a home away from home. Originally from San Pedro Sula, Honduras, the junior at the Haworth College of Business has made the most out of the resources available to him, creating a strong sense of community in his life.

For Kalamazoo, Michigan native Steven Widger, his time 51������ Michigan University has paved the way for his professional path. The senior studying supply chain management and business analytics at the Haworth College of Business has capitalized on resources and developed connections to help him achieve his goals.
