Grants
English as a Second Language (ESL) Undergraduate Scholarships of $16,000 (Multiple Available)
- $16,000 in tuition provided for students who enroll in the Elementary Education (Pre-K) and TESOL program. Scholarships funded by U.S. Department of Education N.P.D. Grant for ESL at 51¸£ÀûÉç
- Funding for books in TESOL classes provided ($300)
- Funding provided for ESL endorsement test fee (valued at $129)
- Accelerated Graduate Degree Program credit is available as an option if you apply for this scholarship
- Deadlines for applications:
- November 15 or until filled – for classes beginning Summer I 2023
- Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for an interview to determine final scholarship recipients.
- Applications from students from linguistically diverse backgrounds are encouraged, but you do not need to know another language fluently to apply for this opportunity.
Scholarship application instructions
The scholarship application window is December 1 through March 15 for the following academic year.

The federal school code for Western Michigan University is 002330. If you do not complete the FAFSA, you are still eligible to apply for consideration for scholarships without financial need criteria.

- Literacy studies cohort scholarship amounts pending
- Online graduate program 30 credit hours
- Graduates eligible for Michigan Department of Education Reading Specialist Endorsement
- Cohorts begin every fall semester
