Are you eligible to vote?
  • You must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • At least 18 years old by Election Day. You may register to vote at age 17, provided you will be 18 on or before Election Day.
  • A resident of the city or township where you are applying to register to vote.

Voting in Michigan

VOTE EARLY AT A CITY CLERK鈥橲 OFFICE

  • You can register to vote and vote in person at the clerk鈥檚 office where you are registered in one trip.

  • Though you can register and vote at the clerk鈥檚 office through Election Day, we suggest voting early to avoid lines.

VOTING AT THE POLLS ON ELECTION DAY

  • Polls in Michigan will still be open from 7am to 8pm. 

  • You must vote where you are registered. 

  • You will be asked to show ID when you check in to vote. If you don鈥檛 have one, you can still vote by signing a form that says you didn鈥檛 have an ID. Your vote will still be counted.

  • Plan your day - if possible, make time for a wait if necessary. 

VOTE BY MAIL

  • All registered voters in Michigan have the right to vote by mail and may now request an absent voter ballot without providing a reason.
  • You must be a  to receive an absent voter ballot, but you can register and apply for an absent voter ballot at the same time.
  • Your absentee ballot must be in your clerk鈥檚 hands by Election Day; allow at least two weeks for mail to travel. We suggest sending in your ballot by October 19th or dropping it off in the designated secure dropbox.
  • If postage is necessary, only one stamp is required to mail your ballot.

  • It's a safe way to vote and protect your health, and the process is secure and accurate. 

REGISTER TO VOTE

  • Check or update your Michigan voter registration at the.
  • The last day to register to vote online in Michigan for the Nov. 3rd election is October 19th. (You must have a valid Michigan Driver鈥檚 License in order to register online)
  • From 14 days prior to an election through Election Day, register in person with your .
  • You must establish residency in the Michigan city or township where you want to vote 30 days prior to an election.
