Preceptors
There are many benefits in becoming a preceptor for students of Western Michigan University's Department of Physician Assistant.
You may find that our students bring informed, up-to-date medical knowledge to their clinical training, which can facilitate your continuing education needs. Students bring energy and enthusiasm to your practice while they receive real-life, hands-on training, which makes it a rewarding way to give back to your profession. In addition, working with our students can also be a great way to find your own future employees.
Before receiving students as a preceptor, we must first initiate an affiliation agreement. We recommend that you take a look at the objectives for your specialty if they are posted. All rotations must be able to provide at least 40 hour per week for all four-week rotations. (Note: family medicine and internal medicine are eight-week rotations.)
